David Tennant has surprised Doctor Who fans by reprising his role for three special episodes set to air in November 2023. The Scottish actor first stepped into the role in 2005, playing the 10th Doctor.
However, it appears Tennant’s son Ty has also biten the acting bug, with a handful of British dramas under his belt already, the young actor has been met with acclaim following his standout role in House of Dragons.

Ty Tennant is the son of actors David and Georgia Tennant. The 20-year-old rising star was adopted by David in 2011 after he met and fell in love with his mother when they acted together on Doctor Who.
He has four other siblings Olive (10), Wilfred (8), Doris (6) and Birdie (1). Olive has also followed her parents and sibling into acting, having starred in the Academy Award winning film, Belfast.
Ty attended ArtsEd independent school in Chiswick for Sixth Form and started acting professionally in 2019. Two members of his family have played the iconic role of Doctor Who - his father David Tennant and his maternal grandfather Peter Davison.
Reported by The Daily Mail, he reflected in an interview in 2020 about the possibility of being the third member of his family to take on the role saying: “I don’t think I would ever decline the offer. Doctor Who is such a massive thing to take on.” He added: “If I am granted that, I will certainly do my best.”
Ty was born on 27 March 2002 making him 20-years-old.
Ty comes from a long line of actors, with his maternal grandfather and parents both starring in Doctor Who. He made his television debut in 2013 with a cameo in the comedy spoof The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot before starting to act professionally in 2019.
His first film debut was as the younger version of Tom Glynn-Carney‘s Christopher Wiseman in Tolkien. That same year, he took on the role of Tom Gresham, the younger brother of Daisy Edgar-Jones character Emily in the science fiction series War of the Worlds.
He also made a guest appearance in an episode of the BBC One series Casualty, had a cameo in Around the World in 80 Days and in 2021 was cast alongside Sebastian Croft as the Dead Boy Detectives Edwin Paine and Charles Rowland in season 3 of DC Universe’s Doom Patrol.Aegon Targaryen, the oldest son of Alicent Hightower and King Viserys, will be played by Ty Tennant, who is the son of David Tennant. But he will later be switched to be played by older actor Tom Glynn-Carney.
Ty played the teenage version of Prince Aegon Targaryen, the oldest son of King Viserys (Paddy Considine) and Queen Alicent (Olivia Cooke) in the Game of Thrones prequel House of Dragons. The ten-episode series covers the Targaryan civil war which took place almost 200 years before the events of the original show.
We first meet him in episode six, where he is seen from behind, standing on his windowsill masturbating to the city below, much to his mother’s disgust.
Ty featured in episode six and seven before handing the role to Tom Glynn-Carney, who plays Aegon as an adult. Ty and Tom previously worked together in 2019 on the film Tolkien, with him again playing the younger version of him.
Ty is active on Instagram where he posts a mix of professional and personal pictures of himself.
