What’s being said nationally after Detroit Lions stifle Giants in Week 11

Updated: 17 days, 26 minutes, 29 seconds ago

The Detroit Lions (4-6) forced the New York Giants (7-3) into an uncharacteristically sloppy game while taking away the league’s leading rusher during their 31-18 win in Week 11.

Detroit created three takeaways, the most any defense has against New York this season. Quarterback Daniel Jones and the Giants were able to go down the field more than a couple of times but had issues putting the finishing touches on possessions. And the Lions held star Giants running back Saquon Barkley to only 22 yards on 15 carries. Those three turnovers, two missed extra points and a failed two-point conversion came up big down the stretch, too. The Lions got significant contributions from young defenders Aidan Hutchinson, Alim McNeill, Kerby Joseph and Co.

This win represents the first three-game winning streak -- and consecutive victories on the road -- since 2017 for the Lions. It’s been a good stretch for the young defense, not to mention an offense missing a few key pieces to finish these games during this stretch. It also moves them into the clouded playoff picture as things stand, so prepare for more “in the hunt” graphics featuring the Lions to come. Detroit heads into its Thanksgiving matchup against the powerful Buffalo Bills (7-3) riding high, so let’s check the national temperature after Week 11′s win.

“So that was outstanding, man. I was proud of our guys. I was proud of our coaches,” Lions head coach Dan Campbell said. “The game plan they developed, we knew what we had to do, and the players executed it. Everything that we said we had to do and needed to do to beat this team, we did that. Really, for almost all of the game. There was a couple of spots in there. But these guys are playing their asses off. And they’re starting to figure out a way to win. We all are. It’s a credit to these guys and the coaches.”
