ANALYSIS: It is all jokes until it is not. Are these Jazz anything? 5-2 after more than a week of play and a 124-123 victory over the Grizzlies on Saturday? I mean, something has to eventually give for Utah to land Wemby, right? Right?
For now, though, you gotta keep betting on Utah and all-things Jazz in the fantasy realm. Vanderbilt went to the Jazz in the Gobert trade and he's yet to look back to his days in cold Minny. Seven games, seven starts for the big man. And the results have been phenomenal for JV even though he's now graduated in Salt Lake C.
The game on Saturday against the Grizzlies wasn't his best all things considered and because of the dub-dub bonus points of others he's had earlier this year, but the 7-7-7-2 line was ridiculous and he added a trey on top of that going also 2-for-2 from the charity stripe.
Tons of players have gotten there in the history of the L, but Vando is one of just 81 to reach those numbers in 23 or fewer minutes since Willie Jones first did it in 1962. Just saying.
Anyway, that's just a game. The season as a whole has been great too, though. Vando is in a select group of 17 players averaging 8+ PPG, 9+ RPG, 2+ APG through Saturday, and none of them in rostered in fewer than 77% ESPN leagues as I'm writing this compared to Vanderbilt's 66% availability.
Utah is not going to trade a young man like Vanderbilt so feel free to roster and start him if you feel like it because his role is guaranteed (and probably going to grow) ROS.
