Strictly Come Dancing star, Helen Skelton, has shared a cheery post with her fans, thanking them for their continued support.

The TV presenter from Cumbria is among the star studded line up for this year's dancing competition. In the latest live show, Helen and her dancing partner Gorka Marquez paid tribute to the BBC's centenary by dancing to the theme tune of Blue Peter.

The children's show while not only significant to the BBC was one of the earlier presenting gigs Helen co-hosted. So far in the competition, Helen has improved week on week with higher scores after every performance.

Last week's number was no different with the star topping the leader board in joint first position. Helen's crack at the Charleston wowed the judges so much that she received a score of 35 out of 40 for the performance.

The performance clearly won over views at home who voted to keep the BBC Countryfile star in for another week, taking her to one of the competition's most popular programmes - Halloween week. Earlier today (October 24) Helen posted a bright and cherry picture of her and Gorka behind the scenes during last weeks show.

Donning sailor themed outfits with the Blue Peter colours, blue white and red, the duo posed for a picture in front of a glittery wall. Huge grins on their face, Helen posted the picture on her Instagram account with a touching message for all her supporters.

Writing in the caption, she said: "Thank you doesn’t quite cut it!!! So grateful for your messages and support. Having a blast, learning loads, and trying our hardest to put a smile on your faces. I hope you’re enjoying the journey as much as we are!

"@gorka_marquez thanks for another great week and for supplying the pics (I am a technophobe so can’t even download the official vids and images). @bbcstrictly."

Helen, who was raised on a Cumbrian dairy farm, took to her Instagram stories shortly after the results show on Sunday (October 23) to thank fans once again for their continued support. Following the elimination of comedian Jayde Adams and her dancing partner Karen Hauer, Helen appeared teary eyed for the loss of their fellow friends.

Speaking alongside Gorka, Helen said: "I'm really happy that we're through and thank you so much for being kind to us but I'm crying because Jayde and Karen are our girls, they're our fam so I'm very sad."

Turning to her Spanish dance partner she added: "So we have to be really good now right?"

Gorka replied: "Yes, so we just want to thank everybody for your love and support and we're just going to be dong our best and keep working very hard, having lots of fun and enjoy. Hopefully we make you enjoy at home and thank you so much for you support it means the world to us but we're through to Halloween, yes thank you. "

Helen and Gorka will be gearing up to appear on this weeks Halloween special edition of the competition. The dance performance will be kept under wraps before being revealed on this Saturday night's (October 29) show.
